2020 heeft geen goede start, voor investeerders in P2P platformen. Naast de problemen met Kuetzal is nu de site van Envestio uit de lucht.
Vlak na het bericht van Kuetzal stuurde Envestio een mail naar alle investeerders met geruststellende woorden:
In het bericht staat dat Envestio vanwege de problemen met Kuetzal ook veel buyback verzoeken heeft gekregen, maar dat deze prima met de reserves afgehandeld konden worden. Tegelijkertijd wordt aangegeven dat het bedrijf maatregelen neemt om het te versterken, inclusief het terughalen van de vorige COO (omdat Envestio wijzigingen in het management had, tegelijkertijd met Kuetzal). Ten slotte sluiten ze af met de melding dat Envestio absoluut niet te vergelijken is met Kuetzal, en dat ze genoeg reserves hebben om betrouwbaar verder te kunnen opereren.
Niet vlak daarna was de website van Envestio uit de lucht. Er verscheen een artikel op hun blog, waarin het volgende stond:
Dear Investors,
We would like to address all our clients, investors, borrowers and other counterparties with the following very important issue. We proudly declare that till present moment Envestio managed to fulfill on time and in good faith all financial obligations to all contractual investors and borrowers, despite the very unfavorable situation in the crowdfunding market, provoked by the uncertainty and potential fail of Kuetzal platform.
Simultaneously with the recent concerns within the industry, we tracked repeatedly various technical attempts targeted to influence dramatically on stability of Envestio platform. They were performed through hacker attacks on our web site and platform’s internal structure and database.
At the same time, we noticed that destructive public relations campaign against Envestio has been initiated and which consisted of spreading knowingly false and unconfirmed information by numerous internet resources questioning financial stability and reliability of our platform, denigrating the reputation of the Envestio owners and key employees.
We tend to consider these attempts as a consistent and well-planned set of actions aimed to cause significant financial and reputational damage, as a result of which the Envestio platform should inevitably begin to experience substantial difficulties with current payments to its investors.
We assume that the ultimate goal of all these actions is to devalue overall Envestio’s business, and the subsequent potential raider takeover of the company or an attempt to eliminate the company from the industry, getting rid of as strong competitor. The implementation of the aforementioned scenario is evidenced by a number of factors and hostile actions that occurred precisely at the moment when a serious crisis of confidence reigned in the crowdfunding market and which actually was caused by the scandal surrounding the activities of the Kuetzal platform.
Envestio strongly condemns any actions aimed at further destabilizing the current crowdfunding market situation and disrupting the activity of the Envestio platform, as these factors together can lead to an uncontrolled solvency crisis, influencing not only Envestio but also other industry participants
Envestio zegt dus dat de site uit de lucht is vanwege aanvallen van hackers op het platform, die de bedoeling hebben om het platform te destabiliseren.
Gedurende de volgende dagen waren er verschillende sentimenten, aan de ene kant wilden mensen Envestio een kans geven omdat het geloofwaardig klonk, aan de andere kant was er direct de indruk dat Envestio zelf de stekker er uitgetrokken had omdat er ook daar sprake was van fraude.
Inmiddels is er geen enkel bericht meer gekomen van Envestio, dus ik vrees dat we moeten concluderen dat het ook met dit platform foute boel is.
Na het starten van een zaak tegen Kuetzal, zijn verschillende investeerders nu bezig met het starten van een zaak tegen Envestio. De bedoeling is om het bedrijf failliet te laten verklaren, en op die manier geld terug te krijgen, en om eventueel ook een strafzaak te kunnen beginnen tegen de mensen achter het platform.
Als mensen zich willen aanmelden, heeft die groep een online aanmeldingsformulier gemaakt. Zelf ben ik niet betrokken bij de organisatie hiervan/achter, maar ik heb mezelf wel aangemeld.
De politie in Estland is inmiddels een onderzoek begonnen naar Kuetzal, en de verwachting is dat er binnenkort ook een crimineel onderzoek gestart zal worden naar Envestio. Op deze pagina kan je lezen hoe je daar online aangifte kan doen, iets wat ik zelf ook heb gedaan.
